What information we collect
When you create a family in PlingHome we store your name, your relation to the family (e.g. “Mother”, “Son”), and your phone number if you enter one. If you choose to share your location, we store location (latitude/longitude) and battery level at regular intervals. Messages you send in the app are stored so the rest of the family can read them.
Why we collect it
All information is used solely to deliver PlingHome's core features: showing your family where you are, letting you message each other, and notifying you about new messages. We do not use your data for advertising, and we never sell it.
Who can see your data
Only members of your own family can see your location, messages and contact information — never other PlingHome users. This is enforced technically in the database (row-level security), not just in the app's interface.
Third parties we use
PlingHome runs on Supabase (database, sign-in and server services) and Twilio (SMS codes for co-parent and child invitations). Sign-in can happen via Apple or Google, and follows their own privacy terms for the sign-in itself. Push notifications are sent via Apple's notification service (APNs). None of these third parties get access to more than what is necessary for the service they provide.
How long we store data
Location history is stored until a parent actively deletes it (Settings → “Delete all tracking data”) — this is a permanent deletion, not just hiding. Messages and family memberships are stored as long as the family exists in the app.
Children's privacy
PlingHome is made so parents can keep track of their children, with the consent of both child and parents. A child can pause location sharing at any time from their own Settings tab. Parents can permanently delete all stored location history.
Your rights
You may at any time request access to, correction of, or deletion of the information we have stored about you or your family, beyond what you can already do yourself in the app.
Contact
If you have questions about privacy in PlingHome, contact whoever administers your family, or email us at post@plinghome.com.
